10/17/2008 - Happy Birthday To US!
Hard to believe, but it's our 5th birthday! Yay! Break out the party hats!
Seriously, though, we could not have done it without the support from all of our clients, vendors, family and friends. We are looking forward to five more years of continued success and hope you'll all come along with us.
That being said, though we'd like to say step on over for a cocktail on such-and-such a day, we're going to have to put that off for the time being. We're just too busy workin' right now!
Stay tuned for more updates and maybe a date on an open house. Thanks again for a rockin' five years! - 13:44 by Jason Hunsperger
08/15/2008 - Now With More Pixels!
Hello all! I thought I would send out a blast on this surprisingly "cool" Friday afternoon in August. As of last Monday, The Imagery Lab is High-Definition equipped!
With the purchase of a Panasonic AG-HVX200A DVCProHD camera, we now have the capability to produce in 100% HD... start to finish.
The camera records to a flash memory card (known as a P2 card) instead of conventional videotape. This enables random playback and file deletion (just like your digital still camera) and makes post-production a breeze! This tapeless workflow saves us time and you money!
HD video recorded in the DVCProHD format requires 1 gigabyte of memory capacity for every minute recorded. As a comparison, the popular tape-based HDV format uses only one-fourth that much space. As a result of the extra data (also known as "bandwidth"), the images captured by the camera are positively stunning!
Not only that, but the higher bandwidth makes the HVX better suited to compositing (special effects) and chroma-key work (green screen) because there is more picture data available.
In addition, the HVX also has the capability of varying the recorded frame rate, similar to its big brother the Panasonic VariCam. This enables easy fast motion and silky-smooth, film-like slow motion shots by "undercranking" or "overcranking" the camera with the touch of a button.
You've got to see it to believe it, so we'll post some samples as soon as we have some. Or better yet... try it for yourself! : ) - 16:30 by Jason Hunsperger
06/30/2008 - Thanks Everyone!
I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who stopped by our booth at the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Business Celebration Day. We are glad you all could make it!
The highlight videos for the 3 Small Business of the Year Award winners are now posted in our gallery. This year's winners were Carlson-Hall, Boise Weekly, and Business Psychology Associates. We want to congratulate each of the winners and thank them for working so hard to meet our needs and facilitate such a quick turn-around!
Also, a special thanks to Scott Jones, Events Manager and all the great staff at the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. We couldn't have done it without them.
And one final note. I just finished reading an article that said that internet advertising will double from $25.5 billion dollars in 2007, to $51.1 billion by 2012. The internet will surpass television becoming the second largest advertising medium, second only to direct marketing. The report states that "...advertisers will shift significant amounts of money into video commercials...". So our question is... are you using video on your website? - 14:55 by Jason Hunsperger
05/12/2008 - CHAMBER TRADE SHOW
Just a quick note, here! We are very excited to share that The Imagery Lab has been selected to produce the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year Awards video to highlight each of this year's winners. It will be shown during the awards luncheon held June 26th at the Boise Center on the Grove as part of the Business 2 Business Trade Show. The exciting day will be capped by the Chamber's Business After Hours held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Stop by our booth and meet the team! - 15:17 by Jason Hunsperger
03/04/2008 - BUZZ ABOUT "RED"...
If you track video technologies at all, you've probably heard about the new 35mm film-resolution (or "4K") uncompressed digital video camera called RED ONE (www.red.com). Truly a revolutionary camera.
We've been doing some research lately as we prepare for this year's HD upgrades. RED offers some great features no doubt, but it's still very much a film-like workflow. The camera's unreal resolution and dynamic range are certainly attractive, especially when one considers the price point, but at this time we don't feel like turning our clients into guinea pigs. We think a more stable and cost-effective workflow is of greater value to corporate clients. Although RED is getting closer, it doesn't appear the camera is quite ready for prime time.
As an aside, Sony and Panasonic have been working on a "film killer" for years and, as yet, haven't released a solution to the public. Perpaps it's not as easy as RED thought. - 17:42 by Jason Hunsperger
02/18/2008 - BETTER LATE THAN...
I've been trying to get a moment to do some updating around here, but following the trade show we've been quite busy! I simply wanted to take a moment thank Benchmark Construction for the opportunity to photograph Nampa's new Fire Station No. 5. The Idaho Business Review published the photo in their January 28 issue. - 12:37 by Jason Hunsperger
01/30/2008 - TRADE SHOW SUCCESS
The Idaho Business & Technology Expo was a great success! We wanted to thank the Idaho Business League, who put on a great show, and all of the vendors and guests that stopped by to say "hello" over the two days. THANKS! - 09:06 by Jason Hunsperger
