VIDEO PRODUCTION PROPOSAL

Any good video production proposal should contain a number of basic components.

Define The Audience

Ultimately, the audience is who will be watching the video and with whom you are attempting to communicate. If the video isn't tailored around the audience, then you are wasting your time and, more importantly, your money.

Define The Content

What are the key elements of the video? They should be known before the project ever begins, or at the very least, in the early stages of pre-production. Details such as target length, format, graphical treatments, narration and other audio elements, needed talent and locations should all be included in the proposal.

Treatment

A treatment is a brief overview of the video designed to give the reader a "mental picture" of the finished video without ever actually seeing it. Treatments are usually only a paragraph or two, but include enough detail to make sure that everyone is "on the same page".

Timeline

You, as a paying client, want to know when your video producers are accountable for what. We, as your producers, want you to be cognizant of the dates we will need your attention to review materials or be present for specific events. Adhesion to some sort of timeline is critical for on-time delivery of your project.

Cost Breakdown

We have found that a detailed cost breakdown puts our clients at ease. It is comforting to know where your money is going. This section includes the estimated number of hours and the associated rates or expenses for each component of the video production effort.

Client Responsibilities

Quite often we will need the direct support of you and your organization to provide materials, gain access to facilities, obtain interview or "b-roll" footage and more. That's why we give you a summary of what we think we will need you to provide so that you know what to expect.

Cost Summary & Payment Schedule

This should be self-explanatory. Here we show the overall estimated video cost and when we will expect payments to be made.

Proposal Acceptance

Once you have read and thoroughly understand the proposal we'll have you sign it and submit it with the initial payment. At that point, we're underway and your project has begun!
